Rule these out first
- Remove any overclock or memory overclock and test again.
- Try a different cable and monitor.
- Do a clean driver reinstall. If the artifacts show in the BIOS or boot screen too, it is not the driver.
What usually causes it
- A failing memory (VRAM) chip, or poor contact under it.
- Overheating memory — often old thermal pads.
- A problem around the GPU core.
What we do
We stress-test the card to see when the artifacts appear, check the memory, and inspect the board. If a memory chip has to be replaced, that's chip-level work on our BGA rework station.
Questions
Artifacts only appear in games. Is the card dying?
Not necessarily. Artifacts under load are often heat-related, which can be fixed with cleaning and new thermal pads. We test it to tell the difference.
Send us the card model and what it's doing.
A photo of the label on the back of the card and a short description of the fault is enough to start. Prices depend on the fault, so we don't list them here — we diagnose first for free, quote you, and only repair if you say yes.
